Hello! My name is Avery Claire Lussier. I am currently working as a second and third grade ESL Teacher at a Springfield Public Schools. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in the Art of Teaching English as a Second or Other Language at the School for International Training (S.I.T.). Last year I graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, with a degree in English with honors and a concentration in The Study and Practice of Writing. I was first introduced to the TESOL field through my work as a tutor at the UMass Amherst Writing Center, and in the summer of 2017 I received my TESOL Certification at Hampshire College. I then had experience facilitating adult conversation classes at a community college, teaching international elementary students at a summer camp, and teaching recently resettled refugees for a non-profit organization. Another professional passion of mine is social emotional learning. In 2018 I received my RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher), and B4C Wellness Champion Certificate, which provides me with eligibility to implement and run wellness programs at schools.
